Following a successful appeal in the European Court of Human Rights and a referral back following our application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission, the Court of Appeal today quashed the conviction in the case of R v Tahery on the grounds that his right to a fair trial under Article 6 had been breached following the admission of decisive hearsay evidence. His conviction was therefore unsafe. A full judgment is not yet available. This brings Mr Tahery’s long battle to an end after more than 8 years. Mr. Tahery was represented by Rebecca Trowler QC of Doughty Street Chambers and Martyn Fisher of Birds Solicitors
